The Last Place a Firm Still Retypes Everything.

05 · Filing

The Filing Agent enters approved return data into the tax software your firm already licenses. It populates. Your firm still reviews, signs and transmits.

The Problem

Read, Checked, Approved. Then Typed Again.

By the time a return reaches the tax software, every figure has already been extracted and signed off. Someone still keys it in screen by screen. It is the largest manual step left in the compliance workflow, and the one where transcription errors enter a return that was otherwise clean.

How It Works

From Approved Data to a Populated Return.

Step 1 of 4

It Runs on Your Machine, Not Ours.

The Filing Agent installs on the workstation that already runs your tax software and signs in as a firm user. Return data moves from SignalsHQ to the package locally, so it never passes through a third-party bridge or a vendor’s servers.

Step 2 of 4

Nothing Moves Until a Person Releases It.

The Filing Agent only ever acts on data a reviewer has signed off on the leadsheet. Unapproved figures and lines without a source document block the release, so the return that reaches your software is the reviewed one.

Step 3 of 4

It Works Screen by Screen, the Way a Preparer Would.

The Filing Agent walks the input screens in order, entering each approved figure where a preparer would enter it. Progress is visible on the workstation while it runs, so you can watch a return populate rather than wait for a result.

Step 4 of 4

It Stops Where Your Judgment Starts.

The Filing Agent populates and hands back. It does not review the return, apply elections, make allocation decisions, sign, or e-file. The return opens in your software for a preparer to take from there.

Scope

What the Agent Does and Does Not Do.

It does

Enter approved figures into six supported packages

Walk input screens in the order a preparer would

Log every entry against its leadsheet source

Enter figures only after a reviewer has released them

Run visibly, and stop on command

It does not

Review the return or check it for accuracy

Choose elections or make allocation decisions

Sign the return or act as preparer of record

Transmit or e-file anything to the IRS or a state

What Preparers Ask First

Does this violate our software licence?

The Filing Agent signs in as a licensed firm user on a firm workstation and enters data the way that user would. It adds no seats and no second copy of the software.

What if our package updates mid-season?

Screen layouts are maintained per package and per tax year, and updated as the vendors ship changes. Because the Filing Agent runs visibly on your workstation, you can watch a run and stop it at any point.

Can we watch it work?

Yes. It runs visibly on the workstation and can be stopped at any point. Every entry is logged against the source figure on the leadsheet.

In the chain

04 Leadsheet → 05 Filing → 06 Advisory

In: a reviewed return cleared for filing. Out: a populated return in your own software, ready for signature.

Watch it populate a return in your own software.

We will run the Filing Agent against your package on a real return during the call, so you can see exactly where it stops.
